- Definition
- A key macroeconomic indicator reflecting the rate of growth or decline in the total value of all final goods and services produced in the territory of the republic over a given period.
- Calculation method
- The change in real GDP is calculated by comparing the volume of gross domestic product of the current year, revalued at constant (comparable) prices of the previous year using a deflator, with the volume of GDP of the base period. The growth rate formula is as follows: the volume of real gross domestic product for the reporting year is divided by the volume of gross domestic product for the base year and multiplied by one hundred per cent. To obtain the rate of increase (net change), one hundred per cent is subtracted from the resulting value. When calculating quarterly dynamics, the Agency on Statistics applies the annual overlap method, based on chain-linking of indices at average annual prices of the previous year. The indicator is calculated quarterly (on a cumulative basis from the beginning of the year) and annually (final annual estimate)
