Definition
Volume of water lost from its open water surface through evaporation into the atmosphere. It is a key parameter in calculating the water balance and assessing losses of water resources.
Calculation method
Determining the level of evaporation from reservoirs involves direct measurements and calculations based on meteorological data (temperature, humidity, wind speed). The methods used are the water balance method (inflow minus outflow), the heat balance method and the instrumental method using GGI-3000 floating evaporimeters or standard evaporation tanks. The indicator is calculated monthly.
Institution responsible for calculation
Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan; Open Joint-Stock Holding Company “Barqi Tojik”
