- Definition
- Volumes of fresh water suitable for and used in watering agricultural crops
- Calculation method
- 1) Balance method: Measurement of the incoming (precipitation, inflow) and outgoing (evaporation, withdrawal for watering) components of the water balance of the territory. It makes it possible to determine the moisture deficit. 2) Hydrological and hydraulic methods: Assessment of the flow rate of open water bodies, the conveyance capacity of canals and the discharge of groundwater sources (filtration rates). The indicator is calculated 2 times a year, at the beginning and at the end of the irrigation season.
