Methodology

Indicator metadata

Definition
Indirect greenhouse gases are compounds that are not significant as GHGs in themselves but that influence the concentration of GHGs in the atmosphere because they take part in physical or chemical processes that regulate the rate of formation or destruction of GHGs. Indirect GHGs are sulphur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) and carbon monoxide (CO).
Calculation method
Calculated annually in accordance with the methodology of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
Institution responsible for calculation
Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan
