По стаистическим данным, площадь лесных угодий, не покрытых лесом, в Таджикистане составляет около 8371 га.
В составе лесных угодий это категория земель, куда входят участки, предназначенные для лесного хозяйства, но временно не занятые лесом (например, вырубки, прогалины, редины и другие подобные территории).
Для сравнения: общая площадь лесных угодий в приведённых данных за 2024 год — 71 591 га, из них покрытые лесом — 63 220 га, а не покрытые лесом — 8 371 га.

- Definition
- The area of forest that has been lost, either temporarily or permanently, expressed as a percentage of the total forest area in the reporting year.
- Calculation method
- The area of forest land not covered by forest vegetation is calculated on the basis of forest inventory and management planning materials. The basic formula for calculating the area is based on summing the areas of all constituent land categories or subtracting the uncovered areas from the total forest land. Land not covered by forest includes: Felled areas — sites after clear-cutting. Burnt areas — sites affected by forest fires. Open forest — sparse stands (canopy closure of less than 0.3). Wasteland and glades — areas devoid of woody vegetation. Dead stands — areas of withered stands. Unclosed forest plantations — young plantings that have not yet reached canopy closure (stocking density of 0.4). The indicator is calculated annually.
