Methodology

Indicator metadata

Definition: A statistical indicator of the number of damaged and disabled facilities that supply water to fields for agriculture.
Calculation method: The number of destroyed canals and hydraulic structures (HS) for irrigation purposes is calculated on the basis of regular field surveys, safety declarations and comparison of actual data with the design parameters of the land reclamation network. 1) Assessment of the length of destroyed canals (in kilometres) The number of destroyed canals as physical objects is estimated as the sum of the lengths of their damaged sections, where Lразр = sum li. For each type of canal, the physical deterioration coefficient is calculated: Kизн = (Vвосст/Vполн) х 100% where: Vвосст is the volume of required repair works, Vполн is the volume of the structure in its design condition. 2) Indicator of the technical condition of irrigation systems The overall level of irrigation degradation is estimated using the formula: Уразр = (sum Lразр/sum Lобщ) х 100% where: sum Lразр is the total length of canals in emergency condition, sum Lобщ is the total length of the entire irrigation network at the facility. The indicator is calculated annually.
